Attention fellow signing agents!

Have any of you encountered those “silly” identification forms that require the mobile notary to notarize their own signature? I have seen a lot of that lately and I ask you to not notarize your own signature PLEASE! Please advise the signing service or title company so that we may better “educate” our clients. Also, please let your signing service or title company know whenever documents are out of date. We can NEVER back date documents. In Addition, it is imperative that you are asking the borrowers to prepare photocopies of their identification for your arrival. Please include them in the completed packages going back to the client to comply with the Patriot Act requirements.
Do you carefully read your instructions and keep them with you? Typically there will be pertinent information included as well as phone numbers to call if there is a problem. Too often good closers become complacent and neglect to read and follow directions. Many times closers have someone else downloading their packages for them and that individual neglects to print the email that accompanies the download. You’re only as good as the customer thinks you are! Another word of advice is to be sure to get a phone number for any after hours problems or questions. And always leave a message at the office if possible. It’s imperative to keep the lines of communication open.
Use your tools. If you are looking for a company name or a customer name or phone number, try doing a reverse lookup on line. I use www.click-411.com as well as www.anywho.com all day long. You can also try 1-800-FREE- 411 for toll free directory assistance from any phone. It’s both money and time saving!
